- Eliminates excess skin and stretch marks in the abdominal area, due to pregnancies or significant weight loss
- Obtain a firm and flat abdomen
After pregnancy or dramatic weight loss in obese people, is common to see excess skin, sagging and stretch marks in the abdominal area. With an abdominoplasty, lipectomy or tummy tuck the abdominal muscles are returned to their place, excess skin, fat and stretch marks are eliminated, achieving a beautiful body, a strong and flat abdomen and a well-defined waist.
In an abdominoplasty or abdominal lipectomy, a horizontal incision is made above the pubis in the lower part of the abdomen. Through this incision muscle laxity is repaired and the excess skin and fat are removed. Sometimes it is necessary to relocate the belly button due to the amount of skin removed. The patient will achieve a flat abdomen, free of stretch marks. If this procedure is performed together with a liposuction, the result is even more impacting, the waist is more defined and excess fat in the back and the thighs is reduced.
Abdominoplasty or abdominal lipectomy lasts between three and four hours and in some cases, it requires staying in the hospital ovenight, especially if it is performed in conjunction with other procedures such as liposuction.
After undergoing abdominoplasty or abdominal lipectomy the patient must remain at home for ten days. In some cases the use of a surgical drain is needed during the first few days, which is absolutely normal. We recommend the permanent use of a compression garment during the first month. After the first month it is mandatory that the patient start on a nutritional program to ensure positive long-term results. Other recommendations will be provided during the follow-up appointments, if required.
